A Memorable Baptism Celebration
This year we have a celebration that is a very memorable day. It was the baptism ceremony of our friend Kuya Patrick and Ate Crislyn’s son, Kennedy Tiburio O’Connell.
We were invited by our friends Kuya Patrick and Ate Crislyn in their son’s baptism ceremony. Kuya Patrick and Ate Crislyn are friends of my parents. We were also given an invitation card for us to know when and where it will be held. It was written in the card that it will be held in the St. Agustine Church, Bacong, Negros Oriental at 11 am, October 9, 2011. Before the day of the celebration we prepared our clothes for swimming because we are going to celebrate a party after the ceremony.
The following day Papa and Kuya rode the motor while Mama and I rode an easy ride (a vehicle smaller than a jeep). On our way there was a small rain that we were almost soaking wet because of that. When we arrived at the church we went inside quietly so that we will not to disturb other sleepy babies who will be baptized after a short talk. we saw other friends of Papa and Mama some of them are young lolo Roger, Kuya Gunther, Ate Fely, their son Adrian, Kuya John, Ate Analie, Kuya Stave, Ate Rowena, Kuya Larry, Ate Ronie. For me I was felling sleepy after the boring talk of one of a lady who was inside the church.
After the priest finished the baptizing of the babies we went to the nearby beach. We had a short party, had lunch and some of the ladies were singing karaoke (a TV structure but the lyrics are there and the music only), while the kids are playing in the beach. We wanted to swim but the water was full of sea weeds and there are lots of stones in the beach.
After the ceremony we went to Bogarts and Papa had a beer. We eat dinner there and went home happily celebrating the baptism of our friend.
We enjoy the amazing adventure, even if the mass was boring. We kids also enjoy the new experience of real goodness we made in the baptism celebration.

My First Passbook Account At China Bank
Passbooks are saving books where your money is safe in the bank and Mama wants my money safe there, so she wants me to open an account there but I was still too young to have my own account. A few days ago I finally could open my first own passbook account.
In the afternoon we went to PS Bank here in Dumaguete to open a saving account for me, but my money should be 5000 Peso to open the saving account but I only have 990 Peso so we look for another place to go and went to China Bank. It is just near PS Bank and near to Hotel Palwa. After we went in we sat on a chair and waited until our number was called. Next to me was sleepy foreign guy. Mama bumped his chair accidentally and the guy smiled. We were the last in the row and were very bored waiting. I started to talk to the guy that I am not so bored while waiting, so we talked and talked and talked.
When finally our number was called I went with mama to the counter and sat down. After our introduction, the girl of china Bank gave me 3 papers to fill up, where she highlighted the parts I need to answer. While I was answering, the highlighted questions, there was a part with the word “spouse” marked and I asked mama what that means. She explained me with a smile that I need to fill in my husband’s name. I told the bank employees Ate Joy and Ate Beth that I am still too young to be married. They explained me that I just need to leave it blank and apologized, as they are used to make those marks at the places on the paper. We had a bit more conversation and after that I got my first passbook of my first own bank account.
Now I know my money is safe and I had a lot of fun opening my first bank account at China Bank. Now I only need to safe more money.

2011 Intramurals at Saint Louis School Don Bosco
At St. Louis School Don Bosco, celebrating Intramurals is one of the most important extracurricular events each year. It happens once a year in the month of September. Intramurals are a kind of Sports and talent contests, where you compete in an assigned game or activity with other students. The activities and games are really forcing me and other kids to be more active.
My Intramurals Celebration started last Friday September 9 in the morning with a little show. There was a guy having a lighted torch who ran around the gym and lighted another much bigger torch. After that there was the announcement for the games and competitions, where and when we are going to start to play our games. I went to the Don Bosco Square for the Badminton competition, because I was to chosen to be a scorer. Right after the game I went to the Gym to the trampoline near the stage. It was really fun on the trampoline and we jump around and around and around… I did not do anything else and was just makulit like always until it was time to go home.
Our Intramurals went on even on Saturday, so I went to school but it was only a half day. Like yesterday I was again a scorer at the Badminton games but for today I also was assigned as a referee. After the games we all had a free snack. My friend Christine invited me to go rollerblading on the St. Louis Campus. When we got tired we went to the Gym and I saw my friend Tisha. She had two skateboards but was not playing with them. She allowed Christine and me to play with the skateboards and she was so nice to borrow them to us. We had a lot of fun with the boards but with all that playing I got tired and rested a little bit in the corner. My friend Ionah had a bike with her and asked me if I want to borrow it and of course I said “Yes”. I wanted to play more but I was already very tired and it was also time to go home for lunch.
During Sunday we had no events. Only our parents needed to go to St. Louis Don Bosco School to pick up our card with the grades.
On Monday our Intramurals were not yet done, so there was more enjoyment. We had a mass first and after a funny presentation with a guy on a unicycle was performed. After a little playing with my classmates I got bored and went to the Gym for lunch. Having finished lunch, I helped to prepare the chairs in the Gym for the afternoon competitions like modern dance, minus one singing and cheer dance. It was really nice and exciting. After the competition the judges announced the winners, the Intramurals were closed down and the students went home.
The Intramurals 2011 at St. Louis Don Bosco were really fun and a lot of excitement and joy could be seen in the eyes of the students. Those were the best Intramurals at my school for now and I look forward to an even better event next year.
Declamation and Lipsync contest 2011 in Don Bosco School
Every year Don-Bosco school has activities every month. This month we are celebrating the Nutri-glisios month, it might sound confusing. The meaning of this word Nutri-glisios “nutri” means Nutrition, remember in a school we always celebrate Nutrition month every month of July. Now the meaning of “glisios” is English just erase some letters they are “en”.
Our teacher in English chooses a contestant to the lipsync contest and my classmate choose Sarah but my classmate Sarah refuse it. Then they choose another one, and some of my classmates choose me. I said I don’t like but my teacher don’t heard me and she just go out from our class as its times for our recess. But before she goes out from our classroom she already put me on the list of the contestant.
I was so nervous and can’t believe that I have task to do. And for me it’s my responsibility. When I get home I talk to my Mama and Papa. I told them that I’ve been chosen in the lipsync contest and Papa was shock and said “what?”
I have to choose a piece of song from the 1960’s. Even in choosing a song I don’t know what to choose. So I just got a help from my Papa because I know he have many songs in his computer. We choose many songs but I read first the guidelines and I have chosen my final song “Whiter Shade of Pale” which would last 3:50 and from the 1960’s.
We have been practicing for more than a week and prepared my costume for just three days together with my accessories which my mother made for me. It also took us about 2 weeks to finish practicing the performance.
In the rehearsal in our school the other contestant was very annoying, they keep on reminding me not to take of my blouse in the practice because they do not know what my costume look ‘s like. But I have to do it so that I can practice my self how many seconds its takes before the song start again and the singer Doro Pesch voice was on air. I have to take the time and know the right timing of the song so that it’s not obvious that I’m just sing lipsync.
On the day of the contest I was so nervous. We had class in the morning but I can’t focus because I was so scared to perform. I told my friends and my classmates Christine and Honeylyn during our recess in the canteen but they made me laugh to make me fell better.
During lunch time mama come to school it’s just enough time to make the preparation. I was done eating my lunch, my classmate told me that my Mama arrived and looking for me. She is looking for a right place where she can put on my make up and colored my nails then I change my clothes and Mama put my jewelry on.
Some of my classmates was cheering and make me feel better, but I’m still nervous. Then Madam Carol asks me to write down my name, title on the song I will lipsync and the artist who sang it original. When the chairs are ready for the contestants I went directly to my chair and sat in appropriate like a real lady as my Mama told me when I start sitting of the contestant chair I have to feel and think that I’m imitating Doro Pesch so that I can do my best, feel better, and ready to perform.
My Papa came together with Lolo Roger my Papa’s friend. I was very happy that Lolo Roger was there, to support me. But I was still nervous. They took a lot of picture of me and some of the contestant. Papa told me he is so proud me. And he said I will make it. Its makes me feel better and a bit calm so I go back to my seat and relax. Mama came to my sit and take Pictures of me and the other contestant too. I look at her face and she looks so worried because this is my first time to join contest all alone.
We had the declamation contest first then.
When it was my turn I was very scared to perform in the stage but I have to be brave enough to perform in the stage. I have to feel the song, listen very carefully, take the right timing of the words, how I pronounce the words and most of all the face expression must be there too.
I have to do it all alone on the stage.
The contestant before me was already on stage while I am very nervous in my sit. After calling my name my classmates shouted for my performance. Almost all of them shouted when I took off my white blouse in the 1st guitar solo.
After my performance I went to Papa, Mama and Lolo Roger to hug them and I went to my place to clam down.
After the contestant Joseph Arong performed his piece, he was the champion last year 2010. The board off judges was almost done deciding who will be the winners after his done his intermation number.
After they decided they announce the winner at first I thought I was in the third place but I was not, I was hoping even in the second place my name is called but still not so I was felling sad, but when they mention my number that I was the Champion I was at first saying to my self “hey that’s me.” So with surprise I was so happy that my friends congratulate me and hug me so tight.
When I went to my class room to ask permission in a polite if I can go to “Sundown Bar” as an award from my parents, then my teacher aloud me to go to Sundown together with my Parents and my parent friend Lolo Roger.
It took time before we followed to Sundown because my mama and I took the time to have some picture taking with my friends, classmate and my best Friend Honeylyn. After the picture taking Mama and I went to Sundown, Papa and Lolo Roger were there and were drinking some beers. We ordered some drinks and some appetizer when we arrived there. After eating we were waiting for Kuya Chelvin ( my older bother) to be there too.
When kuya arrived, we went to Bogart’s Bar and had a drink, there kuya and I had soft drinks, BEERS for Papa and Lolo Roger and for Mama is rum and coke. Papa was there telling me to repeat the performance there in Bogart’s and I don’t like, but they force me so I have to do it again.
Lolo Roger was there and ask me if I like chocolate and I said “yes “ and I ask “why Lolo Roger are you planning to give me” he said “no” But after a few minuets he took out a plastic bag from Robinson and gave us chocolate I was very happy and thank him.
After that Papa was almost drunk so we go home. When we arrived home Mama reminded us to brush our teeth, wash our face and clean our self before bed. So Kuya and I do it then we say Good night to Papa and Mama, then went to sleep directly.
I had a very wonderful day with my family and the friend of Papa, Lolo Roger. The winning is a wonderful feeling. I’m not expecting it but I do my best and enjoy the contest new experience new adventure for me. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to experience this.

My friend Lyka in a Beauty Pageant
In the month of May Lyka want to join the Pageant in her Baragay. She went to us and told us she was joining the Sta. Cruzan in Baragay Tabok Tubig.
This Sta. Cruzan will have prices some of them are trophy to the Miss Sta. Cruzan, 1st runner up and 2nd runner up. Sash are given to the contestant who are best in sports wear, best in talent, best in casual wear, best in production, best in gown and best speaker and miss friendship.
They will have money reward to the once who win. There has more money which is rewarded to the contestant, but it doesn’t mean the one who are not best in any attire can’t have reward, they will have some prices and small amount of money too.
In the afternoon the mother of my friend Lyka came to us and told my mom that we were invited to watch the pageant of Lyka.
It was almost sun set we are all ready done eating dinner so we can find a good sit in front of the stage so that we can have some pictures of the contestant.
We got ready to go in the Baragay. When we arrive we went directly to the place where Lyka preparing her self for the pageant.
I went around the Baragay and I said “hi” to every one I know there. I went back to the place near the stage for the contestant.
After 20 minutes the two announcers told us to stand and sing the National Anthem called “Lupang Hinirang”. Then they announce the beautiful contestant and after a while they dance for a while for their introduction number.
The contestant start going down the stairs and changed their sports wear, while the people were waiting the announcers give the people a dance number so the people are not going to be waiting so long.
When the contestants are ready they went to the stage one by one and start showing their sports wear.
After they show their attire they went down the stage and change their new attire again. While waiting the two announcers give the people dance number called ‘’The Rude Boys’’ so they will not be bored.
The contestant were ready for their casual dress and start showing to every one who has the most beautiful casual dress in the pageant.
They are all beautiful in the pageant but the contestant number 7 is the best in that night. They went down again to change there attire for there talent.
They have different talents some have dancing some has singing. Still people prefer contestant number 7 & 5, but I will vote 45% to contestant number7 and 55% for contestant number 5.
After that the announcers told us to have a break so the contestant will have a time to change to there gown. When the people were back just in time the contestants are near the stage they went to the stage and start modeling on the stage and walk like a celebrity one by one.
After that they prepare their self for the questions and answer portions but before that the Miss Sta. Cruzan 2010 was there and her final walk because she well past the crown to the next Miss Santa Cruzan for this year 2011. While she is walking the recorded voice of her was playing and it seems like she is talking while walking around and around the small stage that night. I remember the sentence was my Mother told my Friend Lyka that “When ever You win or lose Just take it as a great Experience, because at the End there is a lesson that you don’t have to forget and Experience that you have to treasure, the reality is all about your self that you have to accept.”
So meant the next time you do it you know what to do and what is not to do.
This will be a nice experience for me to witness the pageant how it was exiting, how nervous and how thrill it was.

Fruits of the Philippines
The fruits of the Philippines are delicious.
Mango (mangga) – An oval shape fruit which can be up to 20 cm long and has large, flat stone. When the skin is green the fruit is unripe, hard and very sour, but taste marvelous salt or salty shrimp-paste called bagoong. If the flesh of the mango is yellow and juicy it means it is ripe. And it is the national fruit of the Philippines.
Custard Apple (atis) – Also know as “Sugar Apple” or “Cinnamon Apple”. This fruit has a scaly, grey-green skin and looks rather like a hand grenade. To get at its soft white flesh it’s best to cut the custard apple in to half and remove it’s kernel with a knife. The skin is not palatable.almost in the Philippines people sell this fruit.
Lanzones (lanzones) – Looks like a small potatoes. Under its easily peeled, yellow-brown skin is a delicious flesh. But be careful some of them have a very bitter seed inside its flesh.
Rambutan (rambutan) – Shaped liked an egg with a red-green, hairy skin. Inside its skin is a sweet pulp.
Jackfruit (langka) – Greenish yellowish coarse skin, it can weigh up to 20kg and may be big as a blow-up balloon. Some people eat the yellowish flesh as a dessert, salad or vegetables depending on how ripe it is.
Durian (durian) – A fruit with a bad smell when it is over ripe, but taste good, and made into candies, cake and more. It’s also a thick and a prickly fruit. The fruits are delicious and sweet even some fruits smell bad it still taste good not unless it is rotten. Some fruits smell good and taste sweet.

Kabulakan Festival
This kabulakan festival is composed of five barangays who will perform in the showdown. We were exited when we heard mama said we were going to the Kabulakan Festival. Kuya (older brother) was more excited because it will be his first time to watch the Kabulakan festival showdown.
I saw the banner that it was the 5th Kabulakan Festival but I don’t have the chance to took a picture of it because that times a lot of people in front of it. Even they are just sitting It’s covered by their chairs and some people keep passing in that area. I was busy watching the showdown of the Kabulakan Festival, and for sure if ever I have the chance I will not recognize that chance to take the picture as everybody’s focus is in the showdown.
In the afternoon mama was busy in the kitchen so my brother and I were cleaning our mess at the table and we washed the plates properly when my mom is busy doing the laundry. We ask permission if we are allowed to play together with our neighbor’s in their house and my mom said “yes” if we finish all our task and if we are well behave, I’m so happy that she is allowing us to do so.
My brother and I had so much fun being makulit (naughty) but not so much makulit or naughty it’s just a kiddy naughty way. We play and play all around their house.
After a few hours of playing my mom, I called her (mama) told us to get ready to go to the city as the Kabulakan short street parade will start soon, and we need to find a good spot where we can take a lot of pictures.
We said bye to our friend and went home, changed our clothes and went to the city short parade. My mom told us that if ever we lose each other as for sure a lot of people are going to the city also to watch the parade we go to McDonald and wait until we three are complete, she also give us pocket money that we can used to buy mineral water if ever we got thirsty. The parade start with the music then the dog parade start some dogs were afraid, some were not. And they are so cute but some of them are scary looking.
We saw the contestant are wearing very nice costumes and have lots of nice crops and they are all looks beautiful on it. After the short parade we went to City Central School. We bought three tickets and went inside the school.
We did not find a seat. It was hard to find a sit because when we went there it’s already crowded and no extra chairs to seat on. Good thing there was a person who was generous enough to us and offers his chair to us.
When the show start we all stand and sang our National Anthem “Lupang Hinirang”. The Mayor of Dumaguete City Mr. Mayor Chiquiting Teves Sagarbarria spoke to the people and blessed that show. Then one of the lady stood up and said a few words. She told us about how much the champion, 1st , 2nd and the 3rd runner up will have as an award. And who will get the trophy.
After she said some few words she told us to applause to the first intermission dance. They are good in dancing and they are dancing hip hop.
The second dance was also hip hop but they are better than the first one who dances, because they are older and they can do more nice moves. But for me the first one who performs are better than me good for them they can do that, I can’t do that.
The third one who perform was the “Karinyoso boys” and almost all of the people laugh because they make fun of their self and they act, dance and all of them are timing to the music all of us love their dancing.
After that the lady announcer was telling us to applaud for the first contestant of the Kabulakan Festival. The lady was telling the story and the contestant was preparing their crops ,and after the lady was reading the story the music began to play, because it was beautiful all applaud. It was the same but more people applaud to the Baragay Calindagan because it was showing about the life of Jesus, the love of Mary mother of Jesus and the flower grown with love and passion.
Soon people began to live the show. After the dance one of the ladies called the attention of the models in the dance. She told the models to prepare their self for the question. Almost all people start living the show.
Mama, my brother and I eat at a fast food and went home. We had lots of fun watching the show and we had a very busy day. I hope the next Kabulakan Festival is going to be better. And people will be happy.

The friend Yana last day before she Go back abroad
Dear my diary readers,
May 3, 2011 is the last time we went to kuya Mike beach resort in Dauin its called “Mike Dauin beach Resort. I remember when we went there and Yana My friend ask my mother when we gonna visit her again as we say bye to her because we’re soon to go home. Yana talk to my mom and ask what exact date are we gonna come back and have long day swimming and playing.

She also mention that she gonna be in California and stay there for six weeks and back to The Philippines here in Negros Oriental Dauin and stay here for four weeks. She will be back again to California and stay for six months. That is long days of waiting for her that we can have change to play again. Its makes me sad if I think about it. It’s sad because I can’t see her and play with her for long time.
Since Ate Joyce Ann and Nicole sleep in our house for the first time its make me not so sad thinking that Yana is leaving very soon. My Brother, ate Joyce Ann, Nicole, my mom and I prepare our self to have breakfast early that we can finish our cleaning task in the garden before 10am as Tito Neil will pick us up in McDonalds and drive us to the Resort.
When we are in Dauin ate Joy Ann went home and get her swim suit also Nicole’s then hurry back to Kuya Mike’s beach resort. We play, enjoy and splashed water in the swimming pool. We saw died young baby shark we called Kuya Mike and show it to him. We ask him what kind of shark it was, he don’t really know what kind it was.
We continue walking in the beach direction to Dauin sanctuary. We go playing in the ocean and enjoy the salt water. We even see a sea snail, corals and fishes, and a lot of plankton bitted us in the deep sea water of Dauin in front of the sanctuary good thing I went back to the shallow water I try my best to go in the shallow but the current pushes me so I have to swim harder. That is why I got tired when I was on the shallow water.
We played a lot until the sun began to set. We walked back to the Resort and swim for a little bit. After few minutes we went out of the pool and start get dry and change our clothes. Mama asked Tito Neil if he will drive us back in the city. Because it was getting dark and it’s hard to find a transportation going to the city. We give hug and kissed bye to Lola Carol. Ate Joyce Ann and Nicole hurrying up to the car as they don’t want to be left home. Poor lola Carol (lola mean grandmother) was left alone in the House.
She is such a sweet loving lola to us. She always care that we got enough drinks if she thinks that we are thirsty because of to much playing. I wish we see her again and give her a hug when we visit some when.
Kuya Neil drove his car and we stop in front of Robinsons Mall, we said thank you for bringing us back to the city. I say bye to Tito Neil, and thank him. Kuya mama and me give hug Nicole.
I saw Nicole cries as she will gonna miss us and Biko our dog.

Tita Giselle’s Birthday celebration and 1st wedding Anniversary
Tita Giselle (tita means auntie) invited us to her Party. Early in the morning we prepared our things and we got ready. We went to tita Giselle’s house around past 10am. Ate Rochelle (ate means older or respected sister) is so happy when we arrived she hug me so tight at the gate when she saw us.

Baby Rosemarie is sleeping that time.Tita Giselle ask us to arrange the balloon all over the party place where the tables and chairs are set. We sweat a lot because it’s so hot in that area. Kuya Eric one of the party organizers helps us too and gives us some drinks he is so nice to everybody.
When baby Rosemarie woke up we play in the garden then we ask mama and Tita Giselle that if we are allow to start playing, swimming and enjoying the cold water in the pool. The guest are keep coming they have a lot of gifts for Tita Giselle and Tito Jhon (Tito mean uncle). Ate Roshelle’s friend arrived too. We invited them to go swimming and they love it. We keep playing and enjoying the sunshine, clear water from the pool and the big floaters shark whale and the volleyball bouncing each time we throw it in the water. We stop playing when the food was served Tito Jhon blows the horn to make sounds and get the attention of everybody.
Everybody is excited to take the plate and get some food on the tables. The waitress are keep busy and preparing our drinks. We kids which is wet from the swimming pool don’t set on the catering setting tables and chairs. We prepared to eat next to the swimming pool like we have a camping. The parents are smiling to us as they see we are behaved and enjoying our food. We behave very well. If we want more food we ask the some waitress and older parents around us if we want for something more like more soft drink or water and juices also some more food.
When we we’re getting our drinks ate Joyce Ann and Nicole arrived with their father Tito Neil and Lola Carol (Lola means grandmother). We say hello to them and kissed the hand as a Filipino traditional of showing respect and love to the parents or older love once it’s called “Mano Po”. After ate Joyce Ann and Nicole done with their food Nicole ask her father Tito Neil to allow her to go swimming too. And the answer is “sure” so we are happy and exited but ate Joyce Ann is so shy to go swimming because she don’t feel comfortable with her swim suit.. only Nicole done it my Mama help her to get ready and went to the pool and go swimming my mama also swim with us and take care of us. Rosemarie start crying when mama attempt to stop swimming or when out of the pool and get dry so mama just stay and play with us until Rosemarie get tired and stop playing.
At sunset mama is thinking how we get home because Tita Giselle’s house is far from the city. Ate Joyce Ann told us that they have their car and they can drive us home. I’m happy to heard that and I insist that she and Nicole sleep in our house we ask her father Tito Niel if it’s okay that ate Joyce Ann and Nicole will go home with us and kuya Niel allow them. We are so happy and excited because this is the first that Nicole and ate Joyce Ann sleep with us.
At home we take shower and sleep and get ready for the new exited day because we go to Kuya mike beach resort as mama promise Yana that we comeback before she leave. I will gonna miss Yana my friend so I look forward to see her again.
